A very addictive and very nicely built Flash game showing the fun side of Physics. Launch Ball was made by Preloaded for The Science Museum’s Launch Pad and is aimed at teaching children aged 8-14 about physics through a series of games, the aim being to get a ball from a to b over a series of obstacles, it is also possible to build your own levels to share with friends.

I was reading an article in the ‘Metro’ on the train this morning about the trial expansion of the video billboards for platforms on the London Underground, when i was reminded of a video i saw about a year ago of a Project by Jason Eppink called Pixelator, after a little googling i found it.

Pixelator is an unauthorized on-going video art performance collaboration with the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority, Clear Channel Communications, and its selected artists.

In an attempt to broaden the scope of MTA’s video art series, Pixelator takes video pieces currently on display and diffuses them into a pleasant array of 45 blinking, color-changing squares. Since the project is an anonymous collaboration, the resulting video is almost entirely unplanned and unanticipated, with the original artists helping to create new works of art without any knowledge of their participation.

Abstractor by Ji Lee, is another project by the same group of people as Pixelator.

Abstractor is a simple device that instantly transforms any TV into a beautiful piece of art.

Anyone can easily create an Abstractor by attaching two black boards to any TV screen. These boards cover the screen entirely – except for a small horizontal gap between them – allowing a narrow beam of light to escape from the TV. All TV programs and commercials look beautiful through the Abstractor.

I suppose a major reason for my starting this blog was to share the cool stuff I find online, though another part is for me to record the things I find so that I can come back and find them in months to come, well Ai Interactive Media is one such site, I found it on FWA and find there work truly inspiring and rather beautiful, simple yet effective layouts and lovely use of flash, I’m impressed. They are an interactive design agency based in Taiwan.

On my daily wonderings around the internet I came across this Mexican illustrator Luis Vázquez. He is extremely talented and his work has a wonderfully dark edge to it. Rather than me blather on about him, go check his work out on his site and blog.

I have been admiring the style and work of Scott Hansen for years, so it was only a matter of time before I mentioned him here. His site used to be one of the first on my hit list when the student ‘arrrggh!!! where do I start!!?!?!’ thing hit at the start of the design process for a uni project, uni is now feeling like a rather scarily distant memory these days (only just over a yr and a half ago still though!) and I have not visited alot of my old inspiration haunts in a while. I was brought back to the world of Mr Hensen after a k10k.net post about his new blog on his site.

As mentioned in a Previous post, Colourscape will be on Clapham Common this weekend (15th-23rd sept 2007), I will be going, rather excited!
